Each day, aging adults are faced with social and psychological challenges as a result of isolation and loneliness, leaving them more vulnerable to financial fraud, abuse, hoarding disorder, depression and even suicide. Providers are invited to be part of an important conference featuring national speaker Dr. Patrick Arbore, the founder of the Institute on Aging located in San Francisco, California as well as several local experts on the topic.
Tri-County Protection Team and Muskegon Community College are hosting a Provider Conference on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Muskegon Community College.This year’s theme is Recognizing and Addressing Social Isolation and Loneliness in Older Adults.

Seniors will hear from local professionals to learn different ways to help safeguard their assets and protect their personal identity.

Local attorneys and social workers are alarmed by a growing number of complaints of elder abuse, neglect and fraud, and frustrated that very few cases are ever prosecuted. But while state law requires that elder abuse be reported, the high level of proof needed for criminal charges is often elusive.
